Competition winners!

With the first year of Sweet Flag all played out, it only leaves the announcement of the winners of our recent birthday competition.

To the lucky winners a copy of Boom Blox(Wii) or UEFA EURO 2008(PS3) were their rewards. Here are the winning entries in full:

Winners of a copy of Boom Blox(Wii)

Question 1: EA celebrated what anniversary last year? 25 years

Question 2: Come up with a new blox type for the Boom Blox game. Your blox can’t have any element from any original blox & has to be unique from the ones in the released game. No copies please. Describe how your blox would interact within the Boom Blox game.

mbp came through with a great answer to question 2 in this set, showing that putting your imagination to work goes a long way in exploring a game mechanic, even one you may not have played:

“A “Hydra Block” when you hit it it divides into two blocks. The new blocks flash for a limited time and if you hit them while they are flashing they disappear. After a short while however the flashing stops and the new blocks turn into Hydra Blocks themselves. Of course a player who is too slow will end up with an exponentially increasing number of Hydra blocks so some limit is probably required. Perhaps a simple cap on the total number of hydra block will suffice - no new hydra block will be formed if there are more than “n” hydra blocks already on the map.”

The second winner in this question set, winning a copy of Boom Blox is Ed:

“how about a block that changes all the blocks with negative points values to positive, and vice versa”

Nice idea that could easily swing games in Boom Blox right down to the wire.

Congratulations to both Ed & mbp! Your games will be in the post this week.

Winners of a copy of UEFA EURO 2008

Question 1: EA celebrated what anniversary last year? 25 years

Question 2: Name your best eleven players from the teams that qualified for this years finals. Finals meaning from the last 16, NO ENGLAND PLAYERS!

Only 2 players from any 1 team allowed in your eleven.

Some great teams were drawn up here & the competition ran until after the last kick of the ball at Euro 2008, sadly no one took advantage of that.

Also the only 2 players from any 1 team allowed rule was over looked on at least 1 occasion, automatically disqualifying that entry. Here are the winners in full:

Once again Ed came up with a winning answer with his best 11:

Buffon
Boulahrouz, Chivu, Pepe
Ronaldo, Xavi, Arshavin, Nihat, Van Der Vaart
Villa, Podolski

Sarah’s star 11 had some a mixture of great, if short lived, performances from the tournaments big names with a strikingly odd inclusion of Gallas:

Van der Sar,
Zambrotta, Lahm, Gallas
Sneijder, Schweinsteiger, Kranjcar, Ronaldo, Deco
Torres, Villa

Well done Ed for sweeping a prize in both competitions & to all the winners this time round.

All prizes will be posted to you this week!
