Warhammer Online: My interest unlocked
I’m not in the current beta test for Warhammer Online & till very recently, I haven’t been too fused with the prospect of looking at another MMO.
Saying that, what has impressed me is the good things that have been highlighted in Warhammer Online. Some of these unique features were discussed in the recent issue of the Edge magazine(E189) which contained a great overview of the game plus an interview with exec. producer, Jeff Hickman.
This is the first real information about Warhammer Online that I have bothered reading but it highlighted the two areas of gameplay that had been added since the original idea of the game was conceived.
Both the Public Quests & Tome of Knowledge really grabbed my attention. I love that there wll be areas where you can just wade into a quest without having to party up & still contribute to the quest. The Tome of Knowledge looks to bring the whole Warhammer experience together with regards to stats, kills, storyline via chapters. Each new chapter unlocked will give the player details to that chapter & locations of the Public Quests in that chapters area.
Being honest here, I am way behind with information on Warhammer online but I will be certainly keeping an eye on this title over the coming months & will be commenting on anything that pricks my attention. Who knows I maybe temtped back to gaming on my PC for this one, when it’s released this Autumn.

I pre-ordered it about a month ago. It’s the only MMO out this year that I’m interested in. It’s different from the others in many important ways. The devs seem to really understand the importance of dynamics and personal customization.
Keen and Graev have talked a lot about Warhammer, and Keen recently became a co-host of Chaoscast (a Warhammer podcast). That’s a good place to learn more about the game.

I loved DAOC when I played it (aaages ago, when it was first released), so I’ve been following warhammer online for the past few months. I agree, public quests and the tome of knowledge look like things that will really mark the game out from others, as well as RvR

No problem.
Yeah, I applied for beta a year or so ago, I think they prioritize people who are active on their forums. I’m busy enough with blogs! But I recently joined EA’s community contacts, so maybe I’ll get to see it and offer feedback before it goes live. I pre-ordered the collector’s edition, so I’ll at least get to see it a month early.

There’s an open beta due sometime which you can get access to via preordering the collectors edition…so like you say maybe a month before release. I have a slim chance of getting in…should know more about my chances next week.

I had been tearing through this last night, some great stuff there. Have you watched any of the podcasts from the Warhammer site, they try to make it a bit humorous with the presentations…Paul I think is the main culprit.
