GTA IV: Warm coffee & game freeze
I had been enjoying Liberty City this weekend, getting through some nice missions that introduced new characters to Niko. Michelle even invited Niko in after a few games of Eight Ball & Roman’s special ability became unlocked also.
The missions, side missions, social & sandbox play are brought together quite seamlessly, giving the game a very natural feel. Just exploring the game no longer seems a fruitless but fun activity, instead it builds towards the whole experience & storyline that is GTA IV.
The driving may be harder this time round, but I had been enjoying the realism of that too. Everything was great but then an unexpected problem reared its distracting head.
GTA IV & PSN not best buddies
After hooking up my wireless router to my PC, Wii & PS3, then signing up for the Playstation Network, I thought to have a multiplayer game of GTA IV. I loaded the game & waited. I waited some more…but the game hung on the load screen. Hmm…I tried again, same thing happens. Surely, I thought, this has got to be a network problem interfering with the game?
But then I read this posted on Gamespot & followed the instructions deleting the saved game files & in doing so losing all my Liberty City experiences. No big deal really but for someone who has played through GTA IV further than my 8% , it would have been a big disappointment.
For me, this process didn’t solve very much but I later found that not signing into the PSN allowed the game to load perfectly. I have yet to retry the multiplayer aspect of the game but when I do I’ll make a post about it here on Sweet Flag.
Oddly enough most of the problems people have been having with GTA IV & the game freezing, own the 60gb PS3. I own a 40gb machine & am still experiencing a similar problem. Rockstar need to patch this problem quickly.

I have to ask a question: Is GTA4 as good as MAFIA? Does it have a proper storyline and does it really suck you in or is it just about doing silly tricks in cars?

Good questions mbp! Great storyline…you really care for Niko, voice acting is superb with equally good animation!
Sure you can still do the tricks & jumps from previous GTAs but this is a whole new experience with the added social interaction of Niko & characters that can change the storyline.
I never played MAFIA but I really do suggest you try GTA IV mbp, am I right in thinking you don’t own a PS3 or XB?
