MMO trials: EVE Online day 5/21
Day 5. Lost days - why no pause button?!
With the early tutorial over, some isks in my wallet but still owning a very basic ship, EVE Online seems vast & to the new player & uncharted. There are a number of additional tutorials which you can run through including Intermediate, Advanced & Informative batches but eventually you are left to get on & explore EO yourself.
In day 2/21 post, I pointed out that a skill training tutorial would have been a good choice to have at the beginning of the game. Well there is a very short introduction, as a tutorial, to skills & their training via the Help tab in the Neocom panel. Be warned, it’s a very short skills intro.
In EO, maybe more so than other MMOs, trying to direct your activities can be a little daunting. Missions, skill training with a little bit of exploration thrown into the mix are the dominant activities that take up the early part of playing EO. Also getting involved with a corporation early, should be stressed.
Mbp is playing a Minmatar, Marb Pelico in EO & am sure we’ll mixing it together, sometime soon. It should expand the future MMO trial posts about EO too, in the 2 weeks that’s left.

It looks like your trial is progressing well, despite the missing day. Are you finding it a fun game?
It might be too early, but is this one you’d keep playing after the trial?

Hi DM I have been working odd hours this week so my time online is a bit unpredictable. Will hook up with you soon I hope. My initial enthusiasm may be waning slightly, I still think it is a terrific game but I am not sure how far I want to go with it. I’ll try and blog my thoughts when I get a chance.

@ CrazyKinux It’s looking that way, playing very casual just now. I wont be posting a daily update for the trial, lack of time on my part.
@ Stropp I’ll probably buy 1 month after the trial but it’s a little early to say. I want to try COH on a trial too. My PS3 will be delivered on Monday & I have a big week for gaming PS3 as GTA IV is out plus I’ll be getting a review copy of Iron Man from Sega which I’ll be reviewing for Ripten…phew!
@ mbp I think it’s natural to have a waning period now & again with MMOs no matter how new they are to you. It’s all a matter of time…
