Embracing the Wii pt 3
With the arrival of my Wii on Wednesday just gone, I have been a little preoccupied with getting to grips with, what is my first console since the PS2.
Here’s a brief run down of my thoughts on the Wii, so far:

Couldn’t complain with the ease of the set up for the Wii. It’s just a shame that you are only supplied with 1 of each of the nunchuck & remote controls, this means I am looking at spending something in the region of £40 for another set of both these. A little steep & would be happy getting them both as a package but the only seem to be on sale as separate items.
Both my wife & I set up our Mii’s, taking them through a few rounds of Wii Sport’s training. We also put ourselves via our Miis , through a fitness age test. Calculating balance, strength & speed, Wii Sports then gives you your fitness age, my initial age was 74 with my wife getting 78. The results are kept on a chart in game so that you can track your progress & I did mange to reduce my age by 5 years the following day. With only 1 fitness age test allowed per day, there’s no room allowed to abuse the test to get a better result immediately & so you have to be on your toes the next time, if you want to get your age reduced. This is all very nice but I’m not convinced that its a true reflection of fitness & maybe it’s more of ones dexterity.
A big reason for getting this console was to involve my wife into some active gaming that I could also take part in with her & this is looking healthy so far, as she gave the thumbs up on Wii Sports. It should also make a better social gaming activity when we have friends/family around, more so than the PS2 ever did.
In the future, I also want to look at how single play is dealt with in Wii games releases, as well as the online options too as opinion on this not looking too grand just at the moment.
Future games?
Well from friends I have; The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario Strikers Charged Football & Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2, which I will run through over this weekend. I will also be getting excited to see how games like Spore & Star Wars: The Force Unleashed translate to the Wii system. There are early hints that Wii versions of new releases may have exclusive content or gameplay, even if it is unable to compete with the PS3 or XBox 360 in terms of graphics.

That looks an interesting game. Good to see player created content an option in this too. May 9th looks to be the EU release date…I’d like to get to review this for Ripten!
