CSI Season 8 - A La Cart/Go to Hell

Didn’t have time to do a overview of last weeks episode & so will look both episodes 2 & 3 here in this post.

The theme for the initial opening to season 8 looks to be one of change. After all the goings on with the miniature killer for most of season 7, Sara Sidel & Grissom are separated at least at work with the future uncertain in their relationship.

After a grilling from Ecklie, due to the uncovering of the Sidel/Grissom relationship, Sara decides to leave the night shift team & move to swing shift where in Go to Hell she is teamed up with a new CSI, Ronnie Lake & this is when I began to sense a replacement for the Sidel character.

A La Cart is fairly standard fare. Again there are hints at a attraction brewing between 2 other CSI’s, Catherine & Warrick which is seemingly there to tease the viewer.

In the last scenes of this episode, the CSI team racing go carts while Sara looks on with mixed feelings. Is this time up for Sidel?!

Episode 3, Go To Hell is a little darker & more suggestive about the themes & origins of evil.

Harold Perrineau Jr(also seen in LOST) plays Rev. Rhodes a registered sex offender who it is discovered performs exorcisms & not sexual abuse in this investigation.

There is a bee reference at the heart of this episode. A bees nest is found in the loft room that was holding Amy Macalino at her family home which Grissom removes so that he may study…I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of that.

The episode also starts with a close up of a bee in flight which subsequently dies in the Vegas heatwave & again after Grissom ’s initial discovery, he finds a bee close to the body of Amy in the closing scenes of Go To Hell. These references points are subtle nods to Beelzebub, The Lord of the Flies & evil in it’s purest Christian form, Satan.

I loved this exchange between Brass & Rev. Rhodes:

Reverend: My partner, is the Lord.
Brass: Well, I’m sure that’s not his DNA up there.

Next:The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp
