Waiting for a…dead doll
Season 8 of CSI begins in the UK on Tuesday with what looks to be the concluding part of the Miniature Killer story arc that ran through the main vein of season 7.
I have expectations that season 8 should be as good if not better than the last season but with such a strong story in the Miniature Killer arc running through season 7 it will be hard to live up to.
I have made my thoughts know on the Miami franchise of CSI, here & on other blogs & what I feel separates the two shows is the great characters that I believe in & feel for in the CSI Vegas show compared with the shallow & cold feel I get from the cast of Miami.
CSI in it’s original form loves to involve you with the cast & has the emotional pull from it’s story lines, cast & interpersonal connections of the characters. A good example of this was in the two part Grave Danger from season 5. Directed by & part written by Quentin Tarantino, who you would normally associate with blood, guts & extremes in his work we instead see scenes from these episodes of great tension & helplessness as Nick Stokes is discovered buried alive with slim chance of survival with the rest of his CSI colleagues able to see his predicament via an Internet feed.
This of course is only 1 example of the chemistry of the characters/cast of CSI that seems to work so well within the constraints of the scripts which has to be applauded on a show that has such a vivid & well copied special effects signature throughout it’s episodes that could easily have stolen the show, so to speak.
As I mentioned in Foreseeable futures, I will be making a weekly post after each new episode discussing it in length. So keep a an eye out for those in the coming 23 or so weeks!

I am loving the header. That is such an excellent photo. Very nice.
I’m really going to have to bite my tongue so I don’t reveal any spoilers for you! The first one is a great episode, but it gets so much better later on!
Enjoy

Thanks Cat…as I have mentioned I’ll be rotating headers depending on the topic I have just made a post about.
I’m sure it’s hard for you to bite your tongue but be ready for my first post about season 8 proper next week! Good to hear that it gets better as the season progresses…how far in have you seen now?

I’ve seen all the ones that have been shown in the US so far, so that’s up to ep 8 or 9. There was only one or maybe two not so great ones, three amazing ones and the others very good episodes. Oh and one that disgusted me.
There is one episode which I really liked, 7 I think. It’s in the style of ‘Lab Rats’ of the last season in which the, well, lab rats try and solve the miniature killer and discover the common element bleach.
It’s so difficult biting my tongue!

Oh and did you like the episode ‘Ending Happy’ of the last season with the boxer that had all sorts of things happen to him before his death?

7? ‘Goodbye & Good Luck’…damn just spoilt a little of this episode by looking it over at Wikipedia. A combination of the title & the picture entry on wiki gives me a vague idea of the story…then I closed the page off!
‘Ending Happy’ I remember but not clearly…I may get chance to look it over before next week…watched ‘Living Doll’ again a few nights ago which was a little odd as I had more of a detached feel watching the episode as a standalone…think it had more impact watching it as a season finale after the other 23 episodes. No doubt this is because the Miniature Killer story arc is tainted through the whole season.
Don’t bite your tongue next week Cat!

Don’t go to Wikipedia! Seriously! Don’t!
Maybe it wasn’t 7 then.. I might join you in rewatching and posting then.
And let it put me this way, there are many, many changes, some introducing longer storyarcs and hinting at things.

Cat I love the storyarcs in CSI so am happy with that thought…hmm changes well the cast has been solid for a while now so we may see some changes there. Am getting a funny feeling that Sara maybe on her way…when you say many that sounds ominous as you have only watched 8 or so episodes!

Well, I’m not going to say anything, as I don’t know how much you want to know and I’m in danger of saying certain things about some of the characters!
So… Enjoy Tuesday!
