Multiplayer guide for Call of Duty 4
Just getting into the multiplayer aspect of Call of Duty 4 now & with that I feel the need to dig up some links for guides to this part of the game.
I have ordered the official book, which has been recommended & I am a real sucker for guide books, although I have found a very good looking guide with video for CoD4 on the interweb.
CBW Gaming’s guide published in October, highlights; Game types, Perks, Classes, Weapons & Maps & is well worth adding to your favourites if you are stumbling around in the multiplayer aspect of CoD4.
A link on the Links page of Sweet Flag has been added also, if you know of other worthy guides please add a comment with link to this post.
Happy Fraggin’

Hi DM
I am thinking of getting either COD4 or Crysis for some single player entertainment over Christmas but am not sure which to go for. I played the demo of Crysis and it seems very good although my hardware isn’t powerful enough to do it justice. Does COD4 have a strong single player in addition to its multiplayer goodness.

Hey mbp - haven’t seen much of Crysis but I know Stropp over at Stropp’s World is planning to play it & maybe worth asking him. CoD4 is a well done single player game but as I’m still in Act I(our of 3) there’s still much more to experience & I can’t comment on it fully just yet.
I have yet to see a bad CoD4 review on the single player element although it has been mentioned that you are able to run through it fairly quickly if you are a hardened FPS gamer.
Here’s a quote from IGN’s review of the game concerning the single player game play length:

Every time I go into a game it says “game lobby closed.” I’ve done it at least 10 times. This always happens on Xbox Live.

demurest does this happen with any other Xbox game or is it a CoD4 problem alone? Anyone else finding this with the Xbox version of the game? Is Xbox live unreliable?

On the PS3 it doesnt seem to work either. I can never get into a game. It’s like either all games are full or there is no one playing. Pretty stupid

Shane there does seem to be some bugs in connection with multiplayer & the xbox is due a patch, here’s the link to the patch notes from the official xbox forum:

i’ve been playing CoD4 since i got my xbox ( 2 weeks ago) and i found sniping is good for when you start and then i moved on to the AK-47 which is a beast when it comes to damage, and it’s quite easy to aim with too.
then i started using light machine guns like the SAW and the M4A03 or sumthing…
i decided not to ever use knifes just purely because you can’t upgrade your knife…
happy.. uhh.. killing

typo..

I use UAV Jammer and RPGs for all classes, Martyrdom for most.
It’s a huge asset when enemies can’t see you on radar, and I hate being helpless against choppers (I make it my responsibility to shoot them down). Martyrdom avenges me against backstabbers, and it’s deadly when combined with my habit of recklessly charging enemies. For Domination, it’s a great way to clear and protect checkpoints.
