Save the Cheerleader, save the World
So I have caught up with episodes 4 & 5 of Heroes. I am definitely being hooked into this show.
I think the 5th episode did it’s work on me as it introduces a new story arc, that being Save the Cheerleader. The first four episodes were a succession of introductions with the main characters discovering or denying their abilities.
Hiro’s (ep.5) has some great moments of TV. The first proper sight of Nathan Petrelli flying from danger is great & you have to watch the landing scene just for Hiro’s reaction. I liked that this episode linked it’s beginning to end in a very nice, clear way that will develope the story arc into something new for episode 6.
With so many characters involved in the storyline, I’ve noticed the show does something very subtle but also very clever. At the end of an dramatic event, a highlight snap shot of other events that have occurred are briefly played out. This only lasts 5 or so seconds but it helps refresh in the mind of the viewer what has gone on before it. If this is a deliberate way of showing the links in any type of clues to the hidden part of the storyline, I am still not sure. I will be keeping a close eye on these flashbacks through the first season.
For fans of comic books, there is a set of graphic novels that NBC have developed to compliment the TV Show. There are in the form of PDFs & can be downloaded here:

EDIT: DC Comics are in on the act too…
